About Us
The LMSW exam isn’t impossible, but it can feel overwhelming.
As an international student, I quickly realized that while social work is universal, the system here is different, and no one really prepares you for that.
If I felt that way, imagine how many others must feel the same way.
Studying was hard. Registering took endless calls and emails. Sitting for the exam took courage I didn’t know I had.
That’s why I started Next Step LMSW, to make the journey from “Where do I even begin?” to “I passed!” smoother for everyone.
Because it’s never too early to prepare, and this time, you don’t have to do it alone.
Toluwanimi Arogundade, BSW, MSW, LMSW.
As a first-generation college student, I didn’t have a roadmap for anything grad school threw my way. Finishing college and preparing for a licensing exam felt impossible at times.
There were so many unknowns:
How do I even apply for the exam? How long will the ASWB take to respond? What if I’m not ready? How do I study? How do I face my test anxiety and still pass?
When I looked for prep materials, I noticed a pattern: endless practice exams, but little guidance, support, or encouragement to keep going. And diversity in learning styles or voices? Hardly any.
After passing the exam, I knew something had to change.
That’s why I helped create Next Step LMSW, a space built for students like me, where preparation is personal, support is ongoing, and every future social worker feels seen, equipped, and confident.
Chloe Willard, BSW, MSW, LMSW
